AB 1472

http://info.sen.ca.gov/pub/bill/asm/ab_1451-1500/ab_1472_bill_20050420_amended_asm.html

"Notwithstanding these limits on the
effectiveness of a redevelopment plan, existing law authorizes an
agency to amend that plan to extend the time limit on effectiveness
of the plan for a maximum of 10 additional years if the agency finds
that significant blight remains within the project area and this
blight cannot be eliminated without extending the effectiveness of
the plan and the receipt of property taxes."

So, if a redevelopment agency couldn't eliminate blight in 40 years..........what makes them think another 10 will help. The only think it will help is to keep the property tax money flowing to the redevelopment agencies bank account rather that to the county, state and other agencies that would normally benefit from property tax increases.

Unfortunately this bill is still active. Contact your senator and tell them NO on AB 1472.
